Choose the right wheel type
First of all, we must understand that the choice of wheels should be different for different models. Don’t think that what kind of wheel you want to install can be replaced with what kind of wheel. Wheel hubs are mainly divided into steel wheels, aluminum alloy wheels and magnesium alloy wheels. Steel wheels are the heaviest and relatively cheap. Aluminum alloy wheels are lighter than steel wheels, and magnesium alloy wheels are lighter and softer. The acceleration performance is also better, but it is mainly used in racing cars. Magnesium alloy wheels are only used in civilian cars in places with excellent road conditions.
Use suitable tire type
Wheel upgrade should be synchronized with the tires. When refitting the wheels, pay attention to the upgrade at the same time as the tires, because the size of the tires is closely related to the size of the wheels. Some car owners will choose second-hand tires, which is a kind of unwise behavior. After all, the lines of second-hand tires have a certain difference in life span compared with new tires, which brings certain hidden dangers to driving safety. Therefore, new tires should be selected to upgrade the wheels.
The wheel hub is too big, the brakes and shock absorbers must also be adjusted
In the modification process, in addition to considering the modification limit [that does not affect the steering wheel control, and does not collide with the shock absorber and the fender when walking], the modified shock absorber is the best match. A good shock absorber can reduce the metal fatigue caused by ground bumps to the chassis, and strengthen the suspension stability can also maintain the comfort of the vehicle. The shock absorber with good performance can lower the center of gravity of the car, make the car more stable in straight roads and corners, and have better gripping ability with tires, and it also brings flexible handling to the driver.
Don’t blindly enlarge the wheels in pursuit of beauty or performance
But some car owners think that the bigger the wheel, the wider the tire, the better, but this is not the case. The main reasons are as follows:
(1) The large diameter of the wheel hub will cause the torque to increase, which will increase the load when the power of the drive shaft rotates, and weaken the starting and acceleration power of the vehicle;
(2) The use of large wheels must be matched with tires with low flatness. As the frictional contact area with the ground increases, the friction becomes larger, so fuel consumption will increase;
(3) Changing the tires that are too wide will increase the load on the steering wheel, which will affect the controllability of the slow steering wheel and shorten the service life of the steering wheel.
